Water Jet FAQs Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where is the second star coin located in S2-3?

A short while after the level's checkpoint, you'll come across a water jet while riding a green platform. The star coin is just above that jet, you have to try and stop the platform above the jet and jump for the coin when the platform's raised

------

2. what are those jets in the sky that leaves a real long white streak or smokes?

Different kinds of jets just leave that little vapor trail you are talking about. It happens when the cold air up there moves faster through the engines and over the wings, thus making it warmer. The pressure differential that results from the warm and cold air form that little cloud trail that you see.

------

3. Can diamonds be cut with water?

water jet cutters use an abrasive slurry in the water to do the cutting if the water jet cutter had diamond debris suspended in it (which could be quite high priced), then definite it would decrease a diamond many times diamonds are used to decrease and varnish different diamonds

------

4. Why we need to know how to solve a quadratic?

The Universe is a grand book which cannot be read until one first learns to comprehend the language and become familiar with the characters in which it is composed. It is written in the language of mathematics(attributed to Galileo)Sounds like enough encouragement for the receptive.

5. Why do jet engines smoke?

Some of the AGE/GSE I work with uses jet engines. During startup and shutdown, surely expect the temperature not to be at its maximum. That can be one cause of unburnt fuel. Another cause could be a gradual buildup of fuel depending on the interval of the pneumatic thermometer's ability to help quench the bleed air.

------

6. Why is water-contaminated fuel bad, but water-injection is not?

Water injection is introduced into the combustion chamber to cool the temperature which allows for a higher rpm of the engine which gives you more thrust. This occurs after the fuel has ignited. Water contamination means poor ignition where water and fuel are trying to combust resulting in possible flameout

7. Can all trailer lights go in the water?

Regular trailer lights will almost always short out or blow the bulb if submerged. Unplug them before backing in and let them drain all the way before plugging them back in. Lights specifically for boat trailers should not have a problem being submerged and sealed beam tail lights should not have a problem.

8. replaced my water pump?

bleed air out possible leak between house and pump or pump and water either way sucks sorry ive pulled my fair share of pumps old farmboy its bleeding off somewhere thats the question sorry cant help find where look for wet or start pulling pipe out of ground sucks wil need a few friends

------

9. What is the difference between water pressure and air pressure?

Pressure force / unit area - it doesnt matter what is producing the force. But if you are considering pressure changes due to volumetric changes, air is compressible and pressure will increase gradually as volume is diminished. Water on the other hand is almost incompressible, so a small volumetric decrease will greatly increase pressure.

10. Water Jet Cutter and Laser

To complete Martin's answer: the result of Laser cutting is non smooth because of the melted leftover on both side of the cut. You can experience it with the nylon sticker on clothes. They are laser cut and their rim is hardened up to the itching point.

------

11. How can I repair a pinhole leak in a washing machine drain hose?

Silicon sealant ("caulk") with any tape over it is good - see if your friends have an open tube. Move the ribbed pipe as little as possible since it looks hard to replace. If it was long and stable I would just chop it at the hole and re-attach to machine's hose.

------

12. How can I understand how to sing out and not in?

Observe a professional singer. Preferably a big, over-the-top, expansive opera singer. Here's three of them! Now, don't worry about the musical aspect of what they're doing. Just copy their style. Parody it. Show off. ACT being a singer. You might be surprised what comes out!

------

13. In Neal Stephenson's Anathem, is Cnos' statue a reference to Freemasonry?

A motif in the novel is "carving something specific out of the undifferentiated potential," and the idea of left-over cast-off from sculpting work, generally. For example:This is contrasted with the Procians' existentialism in the second half of the novel.Stonemasonry is an ancient example of "cashing in" the potential for the actual.

------

14. Why is there no heat-affected zone with water jet cutting?

The item to be cut is completely submerged in a large water filled tank. Some as large as 10x10 feet, or more. What little heat that is created by the abrasion, and the pump, is immediately carried away from the kerf. I've had slots cut in Kydex plastic with no apparent heat increase in the material.

------

15. What is the use of Brahmins in settlements?

After enough settlers and food troughs they will start coming in and killing them is only hurting you. Get as many as you can for they add to happiness and productivity. As well as they give you fertilizer which you can use to make ammo and jet which can be sold to make a load of caps.

------

16. Is a swim spa safe for a 5-year-old?

Also they can be too hot. Your little one can overheat very easily. Mine used a spa only with immediate in-person supervision and on the understanding they didnt go deeper than waist height so they'd keep cool at least in part, and not for very long

------

17. Pro's & Con's with a Jet Boat? Use will be in salt water on weekends and stored in a garage.?

They are some fun boats to play with but a pain to control while pulling someone and the maintenance is higher but with any boat it is important that you do a fast freshwater washdown as well as run freshwater thru the motor it will save you on maintenance in the long run

------

18. Clean mold from a lemon squeezer

You could bathe the lemon squeezer in a bath of bleach & water for a little bit of time then clean the mold off using cotton buds. If you don't like to use bleach, you could always try just with soapy water & cotton buds to clean them

------

19. Propellers and the Speed of sound

The highest wind speed ever measured outside of a tornado was 113m/s, approx. one third the speed of sound. Needless to say, no wind turbine will be operational at that wind speed, let alone operate with its wing tips close to supersonic mode. Smells like the pseudoscience it is

------

20. 1991 Kawasaki 550 jet ski, overheating?

Have a look in the jet pump and pay particular attention to the positive pressure output, where the hose comes off it to provide cooling water to the engine. Occasionally I have had a small stone block this port just enough to let some water through but not the right amount

------

21. Stagnation flow pressure integral

Your equation describes the flow behavior only in the immediate neighborhood of the stagnation point, so it cannot be used to calculate the total force on an extended wall. And by the way, is the streamfunction, not the potential, but it is equally as useful for 2-D potential flow problems

------

22. How does water carve rock?

It is by simply erosion. The higher the water velocity impacts the surface, the faster the erosion or, if by drips, the longer time span it will require. High pressure water jets will erode rock very quickly while drips of water can take eons. But the process is the same. By erosion

------

23. Jet aircraft turbines- how do they handle water (rain)?

Bostonian and Citation X have the best answers. However there is a limit to the amount of water which an engine can ingest before it loses its efficiency. As an airline pilot, I have flown through very tremendous amounts of tropical rain storms and have experienced no adverse affects. However I am sure there is a limit.

------

24. should i use water for plasma cutting?

Typically water is used for abrasive waterjet systems, which do not use plasma. There are systems that use water as an electrode tho. they are primarily used for small, precision cutting, such as the pin size holes in jet turbine blades (to provide cooling and prevent overheating).

------

25. Is 'estimating' still considered a valuable skill?

My calculator will return 13 digits. Not nearly enough to approximate my release point to slingshot around Saturn on my way to Betelgeuse. But way more than I need to slice an apple pie for the kids. Estimation, iteration, approximation. All tools in your toolbox for answering questions and solving problems. Don't handicap yourself or your students

------

26. If there are water oceans, must there be oxygen in the atmosphere?

To add to other answers, consider comets. Whether you call them a "dirty snowball" or a "snowy dirtball", the common feature is frozen water. As a comet approaches the sun, heating will somewhat melt the ice and cause gas jets to be emitted, but this does not result in any permanent atmosphere, never mind breathable O2

------

27. Can Create Water be used to create HOT water? closed

The description of the spell effect doesn't grant any choices about temperature, so that is not under the caster's control.BesidesThis spell generates wholesome, drinkable water, just like clean rain water.clean rain water isn't boiling hot. The spell's effect simply doesn't cover what you wish to do.

------

28. Does the octopus have an anus? What does it look like?

The anus of Octopus is channeled into its siphon.

Image taken from Carina M. GsottbauerNote:Siphon is a tube that leads from the mantle to the outside. Octopuses use their siphon to force water out in jets for propulsion and to flush waste products from the anus. From Encyclopedia of the Aquatic World, Volume 6

29. Changing momentum of moving trolley

Think of it differently. Rather than a single train car with a tank of water, you have a train of many individual cars (which can, if you wish, contain water). If once a second you disconnect one car from the end of the train, what happens to the momentum?

------

30. What materials for a boiler, if any, do not require a deaerator?

There are many more common alloys in the Inconel , Hastelloy , and Incoloy families. And some odd balls like MP35N, 5o:5o Cr- Ni, Vitallium , and others. Titanum won't take the heat. For all of these materials; if you need to ask the price ,you can't afford them.

------

31. would a jet work under water?

There would be a major problem with the rusting of the engine being under water (salt water) Also there is a problem with harnessing enough energy from the hydrogen almost impossible to run a jet engine to go fast enough to propel at high speeds, last the problem with the oxygen ratio when burning fuel

------

32. How does a jet engine keep debris (water/dirt) out of the combustion chamber?

The combustion chamber is not closed, the air enters the combustion chamber, gets expanded by ignition and then passes through the turbines. My guess would be that most of it leaves through exhaust, the tradeoff though is that you get a much lower efficiency compared to a car engine using pistons

------

33. Why is boiled water safe to drink?

yeah u said is right there r bacterias which survive in hot springs and all there are called thermoacidophiles there body is adjusted to that environment. we usually boil water to kill the common bacterias ie,which lack those protective measures seen in thermoacidophiles.temperature splits the complementary strands of DNA

------

34. Kinetic energy loss when a rigid body falls into water

The final velocity in the fluid is zero if there is no gravity so all kinetic energy is lost. If there is gravity, the body will move down with the velocity determined with balance of the gravity, Archimedes', and friction forces. It has nothing to do with the initial velocity.

------

35. If Yellowstone supervolcano blew today, would everybody in Iowa get killed? What if you flead out to New York?

fortuitously, the Yellowstone volcanic gadget shows no signs and indicators that it fairly is headed in the direction of such an eruption interior the close to destiny. actually, the risk of this manner of experience happening at Yellowstone interior of here few thousand years is extraordinarily low

------

36. whats safer a trampoline or a jet ski?

I believe that it depends on if you have been drinking. I have never been hurt on my trampoline or jet ski while sober. However, there is currently a baseball bat-shaped bruise across my lower back from last nights party. I think alcohol should be renamed to Liquid Confidence

------

37. steam turbine vs jet turbine?

In a Jet Turbine, the turbine is located after combustion near the exhaust side. The powerful compressor blades is what the water hits on the intake. Those blades hit the water to the side walls so that they can exit through the vents. Water never enters the combustion chamber and it never reaches the turbine

------

38. How to I prevent hard water stains on my dishes??

Well next time you grill chops line the pan with foil. For now to get the stain out sprinkle the whole thing with baking soda and boiling water and scrub, scrub, scrub!Someone also told me you can spray oven cleaner on pots and pans and let them soak overnight, but I never tried this. The baking soda really softens stuck on stuff!.
