There should be shut off valve under the sink.....So you do not have to shut off the whole house......But if you do not have a shut off valve under the sink you should.....To install the faucet you need to get a basin wrench. You should read up on it before you try to tackle the job yourself........Info available at your local Library or on line... Then you are going to have to shut off the water to the house. You can shut it off at the meter but you are going to need a water meter key to shut it off or you can look for a shut off valve at the house somewhere, you will have to look for it..... But if you get a plumber I suggest you have him put shut off valves under the sink so next time something like this happens it will be easier.....

Just keep it maintained and you will find the car will just refuse to die. Main let-downs I can think of is the acceleration in the DX and LX models, the manual transmissions from 1992-2000 tend to have the transmission Input Shaft Bearing go bad if it's the original one (can be costly for a shop to fix it). And thieves who steal them and sell the parts because of the idiots who race their stock engines and blow it, so an alarm system professionally installed (NOT a crappy Best Buy install) is highly recommended.

Also, I've used oven cleaner (Easy-Off) to remove baked on oil and grease from steel surfaces, and it does not seem to react with the metal; but you should try a small amount on a clean area first and check carefully for any sign of metal residue on the rag or sponge you use to wipe it off, and STOP if you see any. Pretty effective on old cork gaskets on a radiator core flange. Does not seem to harm the brass

I think you have two problems. To disconnect he dishwasher follow the the hoses, you should come to valves, if you do close them. Once in a great while there will be no valves. This call for disconnecting the hose and either plugging or capping the holes where the hoses were attached. Be sure and use some tape or paste on the threads. Your other problem is where ever the washer out let hose in connected, (hopefully under your sink) that will be the drain line for your sink. Sorry but that line has a partial blockage, a large volumn of water will not drain down fast enough. First try running hot water down the kitchen sink. Let run, drain the hot water tank if you must. Hot water is the cheapest and easiest drain cleaner known to man. Fill up one side of the sink with luke warm water, then pull the plug and let it drain. It no water comes up in the other side of the sink you are home free. If that dont work in your opinion, go to the plunger. If still no success resort to the liquid drain cleaner. Still use hot water. If you are still in trouble, take the drain line apart below the sink and go with a snake. Or if you are ready to give up call a plummer. But since you purchased the house for income, buy the snake, it will come in handy over the years, Believe Me.

If you are referring to the spring/ball combination that holds the shift lever rooster comb in gear like on a RWD Chrysler transmission, they do not use that method on a 41TE. Chrysler uses a spring steel lever with a roller on it to hold the rooster comb in place. I tried looking on line for a picture of the check ball locations, but came up empty. Contrary to the mythology that lead "lubricates" valves, it does nothing of the sort. What it does do is build up deposits on the valves (especially the exhaust valve), providing some insulation. Without lead, it's like a blacksmith pounding on a red hot horseshoe: the overheated valve seat can recess into the head. This is only really a problem with cast iron heads operating at high RPM, because cast iron is a poor thermal conductior. I believe all of your cars have aluminum heads with steel seats, these should be resistant to the problem. And vintage cars are rarely driven at the limits, so the valve seats wo not get as hot. You should be fine. I have several vintage cars and have never worried about unleaded fuel. However, ethanol can be a problem. If possible, you want to avoid using ethanol enhanced fuels in older cars. The reason is that older hoses and pump diaphagms tend to degrade rapidly in ethanol. If your fuel lines, carbs, and fuel pump have been redone in the last 20 years, the probability is that you are fine. But if your fuel system still has vintage rubber anywhere, beware of ethanol. I almost forgot the 240D. I've always used Mercedes Diesels as daily drivers. Most of them go hundreds of thousands of miles without a fuel related problem (as long as the fuel does not get contaminated with water and you change your filters regularly). Recently, the US went to ultra low sulfur Diesel. In raw form, ULSD has less lubricity than the old stuff, so it has the potential to cause pump failure. But the refiners (at least in the northeast) have been mixing a little biodiesel in with it. This not only increases the lubricity, it raises cetane a couple of points. So far, I've found it works better than the old stuff. We will see if there's any impact on durability.3. Are all blow off valves the same size from the gasket area ?A "Blow Off Valve"? Washing Machine Shutoff Valve Won't Close
Our original washer valves were 1/2" multi-turn with rubber washer to brass seat and they were sweated onto the 1/2" copper tubing. The sweat joint was exposed in the box so I did not have to open up the drywall below the box. When I redid them I sweated on a fitting going to 1/2" FIP so I could thread in valves.I thought the new quarter turn ball valves I got from HD or Lowe's were themselves 1/2" FIP and I got a "nipple" ( 1/2" MIP x 1/2" MIP) to connect the two 1/2" FIP joints on the supply and the valve, respectively. But looking at the valve it appears that the valves are actually 1/2" MIP. I don't know if this is the best way to do this. I had a lot of trouble with getting the threaded joint to stop seeping. I can see why the professionals prefer to sweat the valve in. But for an amateur using a torch inside a wall risks starting a fire. The suggestion of using a SharkBite is a good one.EDITI said above that I had considerable trouble getting these valves to stop seeping and I think I now realize why--the threaded tubes on these long shank valves are surely straight, parallel and are not tapered! Long shanks cannot tapered. They could be tapered at the ends and straight above that, but that would show .Only short shank valves can be tapered, Short shank valves of course could be straight, but almost certainly (at least in the US) would be tapered. I redid these three times and finally got it to a very slow seep which plugged up over a week or so. But this is not an acceptable installation. These valves were probably intended for sweating 1/2" copper tubing inside the shank. As rings fail the crank case is subject to more pressure and if the problem is excessive leads to failure of gaskets such places as the oil pan and valve covers. If you are not loosing coolant and the system is sucking coolant back into the engine when it cools- the odds are that the head gasket is fine. Now on the average a car this old would have about 210000 miles on it. This is well over the design life expectancy of the rings, valves and valve seals. While Honda's are known to get 250000 miles out of an engine- it might be wise to start shopping for a replacement engine (if you like the car) or a new car. If you are a gear head- start looking into what engines make nice swaps for power and act accordingly.2. What concepts/rules apply for multi-stage pumping of waterI do not believe that this would be necessary.Most pumps (not constant volume ones) have a relationship between flow rate and pressure jump (often called a pump curve). Since the entrance diameter of the pump does not change, you've got (basically) the same momentum in the pipe at a given flow rate regardless of how it gets that way. Another way of looking at it is that any effect of the momentum is already taken into account experimentally when the manufacturer generates the pump curve.My memory is a bit hazy on this, but I do seem to recall that some kinds of pumps do not respond well to particularly non-uniform and/or turbulent flows entering them. The net result was that you would want to have a decent (ten-ish diameters) section of straight pipe leading up to the pump after any bends,valves etc.3. Did i blow my car engine?If your oil was leaking at a significant rate, it is possible that you were running it for some time with very little to no oil in it. If this is the case, there is a high probability that something in the engine might have warped as oil is the lubricant that reduces the friction on the internal engine components. I can see the situation possibly occurring like this: You hit your oil pan (which is located at the bottom of the car and is essentially your oil reserve) and it burst open, causing the oil leak and possibly the dragging sound. Then as you continued to run the engine, the internal temperature for your cams and valves responsible for combustion timing went too high up and they warped, and after you turned the car off, they no longer operated well enough to even allow the engine to turn over (run through its cycle) properly. That could be hell to fix, but hopefully you have a good mechanic...
