How to Make Ear Candles at Home

Ear candling is a form of alternative therapy where waxed cloth is created into a cone shape. The tip of the candle is placed within or just outside the ear canal while the other end is lit. This is supposed to create a vacuum effect to get rid of wax and toxins. While you can buy these candles, making them at home is relatively easy but check with your doctor before you make or use them. Once you get your doctor's approval, you will find that making an ear candle is not an intensive project - but it might take a bit of practice. However, to even get started you need to have the right ingredients. Newspaper or cloth to avoid mess or dripping After laying out your newspaper or cloth, you will want to cut the muslin into strips that are about a quarter of an inch wide. The length of the strips and how many you have is up to you. Next, you will want to set up the double boiler to begin melting the wax. This might take a bit, but it is pivotal to monitor the wax temperature. It should not exceed 250F, because the flash point of wax is 300F. This is where the wax could light on fire. Once the wax is good and melted, you can choose to add a few drops of essential oil. However, this is optional. Before you can wind the muslin on to the dowel, you need to oil it to ensure that the candle will not adhere to the wood. Add a substantial amount of oil to the dowel, making sure it is good and coated. To prevent wax from dripping down the inside of the candle when using it, wrap the dowel in two layers of non-waxed muslin first and then wrap it with the wax coated muslin. Using the tongs, dip the muslin in the wax. Allow the muslin to cool slightly then take and wrap the strip around the dowel. You want to start at the narrow end and work your way up. The cone should be roughly 10 or so inches long when finished. Making the tip of your candle can get a bit tricky and might take a bit of trial and error. Many doctors and health practitioners believe that ear candling is ineffective and dangerous. Tests conducted on the remains left inside an ear candle after the procedure documented that the waxy residue and ashy powder found in most used ear candles is actually residue and remains from the candle itself, not anything that has been drawn out of the ear. People who have tried ear candling have experienced severe pain and burning from hot wax dripping down inside the candle and lodging in the eardrum. This can cause permanent damage to the ear canal and the eardrum. At-home ear candling kits can be dangerous as well. Often the wax will drip onto the skin, onto furniture or other flammable objects. The flame of the candle can also get quite high. If you do decide to use ear candles after getting your doctor's okay, have a friend or relative assist you. Ear candles are a form of alternative medicine that is used to remove the toxins from the ear. It supposedly helps with wax build up and tinnitus. However, there is not any true science to back up these claims. If you want to give candling a try with a few simple ingredients, you can make these at home but always check with your doctor before you use them.

Do not throw them away! Find out how to clean and reuse essential oil bottles to give them a wonderful and useful second life! Do you have a relatively big stash of essential oil bottles? If you use essential oils in your day to day life like we do, chances are you have plenty of oils you have used up... and tossed in a basket like we have. Do not throw your oil bottles away - you can reuse and recycle them to use for other things at home. If you find yourself with empty essential oil bottles (including the cap and orifice), dump them all in a basket, and prepare to clean and reuse essential oil bottles in just a few minutes. How to Clean and Reuse Essential Oil Bottles Cleaning your bottles can take just 15 - 25 minutes, and would be a great way to have your kids chip in and help you to shorten the time. Prepare a large tub, and have a bath towel you can lay on your counter to soak up the water, then pull out your basket of bottles and get started. Peel off as much of the label as you can Remove the cap, the orifice and the plastic ring from each bottle. Soak the bottle and the plastic parts in a tub of warm, soapy water for 10-15 minutes. Use your Lemon Essential Oil to remove what is left of the label on each bottle. Rub the oil into the bottle to get all the sticky residue off, and repeat with all the bottles. Once the bottles are clean and the labels removed, put them in a new tub of warm water combined with a 1/2 cap of non-toxic Cleaner and let them soak for 5-10 minutes. Dump the bottles, rinse them one last time and let them air dry on a towel on the counter for a few hours until they are completely dry. Now that you have all of your bottles clean, and the sticky residue has been removed, here are some ways to give them a new life. Use them to create your own roller blends. Your 15ml and 5ml bottles are the perfect size to create your own blends - or, rollers of cologne or perfume for yourself or for family members. One of my favorite combinations is 6 drops of each Bergamot, Joy and Grapefruit..... or, you can do 6 drops of Joy and Orange for a Happy Mommy Blend. Once you add the oils to the roller, top off with sweet almond or jojoba oil. Store a little of each of your favorite in extra bottles to take with you in your purse, or... to share with friends or family. Adults are not the only people that can benefit from essential oils - kids can too. However.. when using essential oils on kids, you will want to ensure that you dilute appropriately. 3. 4 Tips to Bring Your Weave Back To Life

It's easy for a curly weave to get tangled and messy and leave you wondering if all that money was worth it. When you take care of your weave, you can make it last and look fabulous for a long time! Girls with curly hair weaves face much of the same issues as girls with curly hair do. Your hair/ weave can get matt and some days you can not even recognize it because it's a hot mess. The key is to be patient and use some essential hair maintenance tips to make that weave last longer. Who does not want to look flawless and flaunt their beautiful curls 24/7? These tips will help you look perfect in your curly weave for every occasion! Curly hair lacks moisture naturally that's why it needs a little extra boost of hydration. Curly girls notice their hair getting dull and limp quite often but do not be alarmed! You are not alone and this is nothing a little regular deep conditioning can not fix. You can deep condition with a hair mask or every other day if you feel like your hair is extra thirsty. Tip: if you have any special events coming up, prep your hair by deep conditioning regularly for at least a month prior to the event. This might seem like a long shot, especially if you are obsessed with your curling iron, but too much heat damage, is not good for the long run. The best part about curls is that they already have a lot of texture and all they need is gentle manipulation. Take your favorite styling products and use your fingers to create curls on the crown or wherever you see frizz. Whenever you wash your hair, remember to a) go easy on the shampoo, because it dries your hair out and b) detangle in the shower with a wide tooth comb. The best way to detangle them is to start from the bottom and work your way up to the roots. This reduces the chances of causing your hair to break and get damaged unnecessarily. Make sure you provide ample support to your attachment so you do not tug at it too much! Do not let the frizz get you down, it's totally normal. To calm it down, especially when you have to go out, you can try natural methods. Our favorite is using a walnut sized amount of natural oil with a drop of essential oil and rubbing it all over the hair, concentrating on the part which frizzes the most.
