Yes, it's not absolutely necessary, but it will definitely make it look even more highlighted and it will make it last longer. It's just like if you use eyeliner, you can use an eyeshadow of the same color over it with an angeled brush to make it last longer. Or if you wear cream or liquid foundation and you set it with a setting powder. MAC's Soft and Gentle is a great powder highlighter if you can get it. Hope I helped! :)
